Backyard Fossils

I’ve come across quite a few of various fossils as I cleared the extra lot behind my home.  Sometimes I suspect a former owner was a rock-hound with a sense of humor and buried these oddities all over the place.

I kicked this one up today.  I noticed the small “shell” immediately but once I washed it off, I also noticed a peculiar pattern of raised clustered “dots” on the surrounding rock.  Not sure if that is fossil or some peculiar geology. The shell is approximately 1cm and the individual “dots” are well under 1mm.
