Steampunk != Goth

I am an elitist for being wary of the Goths co-opting the Steampunk movement?

I deeply resist when I see people attributing Steampunk roots to the Goth subculture. While I do acknowledge that members of the Goth subculture have been drawn to and contributed to it, I do not see Steampunk as its descendant.

I’ve decided to make my statement by starting the genre “ScreamMonk”… an ideological fusion of the high-pitched throaty lyrics and principles of 80s hairbands and the reflective and somber Gregorian incantations of the medieval monastic tradition.
