Myst Online: Uru, Play for Free
(Eurogamer) Descending gracefully over the hills of the internet today is Myst Online: Uru Live, which will be the first game in the puzzle-solving series to venture into an MMO setting. The game is available now directly from GameTap in the US, with the promise of versions for other regions – although if you can find the links on the official site then you’re better men than us. A Mac version will be released sometime in spring.
Mystech: I don’t have any MMO time in my life right now, but I have a few friends that “occasionally enjoy a few minutes” of such fare, so here you go. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Developed by Cyan Worlds, the title is a traditional Myst experience, boasting fresh puzzles and a new storyline, which will continually evolve around the online community. You’ll also now be able to interact with other players using familiar MMO communication such as voice or text chat, as you form groups and take on mind-bending challenges.
“Myst Online: Uru Live is the most ambitious Myst experience we’ve ever created,” said Rand Miller, CEO of Cyan Worlds. “By developing an interactive, online world driven by intrigue and exploration instead of violence, massively multiplayer online gamers now have a choice unlike any of the other options.”
Myst Online will be the sixth game in the series, which started all the way back in 1993.
But alas, unfortunately it sounds like we won’t be doing any more rat-punching for any fair housewives in distress. However, you can find out exactly what you will be doing, plus any other puzzle-solving clues on the game’s website.
