This weekend’s LARP was pretty rainy (to put it mildly). My NPC/Monster shift was particularly brutal since it was really coming down and most of the encounters scheduled for that slot were staged outdoors. At some point, during fighting, chasing and generally getting walloped on, I dropped my phone. I didn’t realize it until the last 30m of my NPC shift, and spent another hour after my shift retracing my steps through field and forest at 3am with a flashlight.
I did find my phone eventually… completely submerged in a puddle but otherwise unharmed(?). It turned right on with no tricks, a message popped up informing me that its sensor detected water in the USB port and that it would update me with the port was dry. And shortly, it was. With no special effort or drama.
