Even Genius Has Its Limits
So I walked over to the Apple Store to get a display adapter during lunch and found it particularly busy. Perhaps due to classes. I caught the attention of the first employee walking by but I failed to notice he was wearing a black t-shirt… “Pardon me, but could you help me find a Mini Display Port to DVI adapter for the MacBook Pro?” His response was instantaneous and delivered barely breaking his stride, “I”m sorry. I can’t help you. I’m a Genius.”
Classic Apple Store.
Shortly thereafter, an EXTREMELY nice and friendly member of the floor staff was able to grab one from the back. Took all of about 90 seconds. I can only imagine it would have take a genius only 45 seconds. 😉
This is why I have anything by Apple.
I like using Windows, because I can get whatever adapters I need, pretty much anywhere, and for a lot less money.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti apple, their software works beautifully with their hardware, but I cannot justify dropping $1100.00 for a mac, when i can get a PC with the same or better stats and components for around $400.00.
Sorry there was a typo. I do *not* use or own anything by apple.
Is Genius some sort of specific product line or the guy just that much of a blowhard? Even then, I fail to see how being in a specific department would render you incapable of pointing to a shelf.
In this case, the ill-deserved title is what Apple calls its in-store technical support staff that run the “Genius Bar”, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genius_Bar
