Amnesia, the new 5th Amendment Defense!
(Washington Post) With GSA Administrator Lurita Alexis Doan and up to 40 regional administrators on hand, J. Scott Jennings, the White House’s deputy director of political affairs, gave a PowerPoint presentation on Jan. 26 of polling data about the 2006 elections. When Jennings concluded his presentation to the GSA political appointees, Doan allegedly asked them how they could “help ‘our candidates’ in the next elections.” [ Full Article ]
This is a felony offense called the Hatch Act. In the sweetest of ironies, in 1990 a Congressional bill to reduce the restrictions of the Hatch Act was vetoed by none other than Daddy Bush.
And again, we have the unrepentant, defiant response from the person, CHALLENGING those who call her on the carpet. This precedent was set by W. and needs to have an end. If it’s against the law, and there is corroborative proof, then she needs to be FIRED.
I am so sick of the Republicans, I am going to do everything I can to make my vote count against them on the federal level. I miss being able to announce that I was proud to be one, it used to be a great party.
