Shuttle Biking
Ok, who wouldn’t like to easily and portably turn their bike into a paddleboat? I mean, isn’t that right up there with flight as one of the basic human dreams? Well maybe not, but it was someone’s dream and as unlikely as it seems I find myself somewhat enchanted with the concept.
The ShuttleBike kit fits entirely in a provided backpack and consists of a pair of inflatable pontoons, rudder, propeller and drive system and all the necessary clamps and connectors; all weighing under 25lbs. Deployed, it looks something like this:
The manufacturer claims it has a 275 pound maximum safe load (450 lb. emergency rescue) and can achieve 4 miles per hour cruising, 6 miles per hour maximum speed.
